Single Channel Video
Duration: 7:54
2021
Suspended in a re-mythologized future of the environmental disaster that occurred in the damming of the Colorado River at Glen Canyon, The Passage (Transpiration 1) is a short single-channel video reanimating submerged beings from beneath a calcified shroud in the aftermath of the human-made project of Lake Powell. The work is part of a larger video installation that offers ceremony for the loss of place in an implicit post-human version of imminent histories.
Performances by Melissa Dudley, Rocki Swiderski, and Nicole DeLuca. Text excerpt from Desert Islands by Gilles Deleuze.
This project was funded with an Arts Foundation New Works Project Grant and shot on location at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
