WORMHOLE is a thought bubble: a community of gestures, colors, and textures that welcomes us to roam our mental ecologies. A room full of drawings and sculptures converse with each other; the two artists’ works articulate a world in celebration, inviting us to join in splendor. If we can produce a utopia with images, what does the world look like?
A harmonious color field?
Anthropomorphized plant life?
An insect’s perspective onto a great big planet?
Kriksciun and Lynch’s shared interest in color, repetition, humor, and in creating/deconstructing spaces, sits on the porous line between abstraction and more narrative or figurative approaches. Their compositions ask us to probe our desires for recognition and category, and in lieu of this mode, embrace the inbetween-ness of after-image, ephemera, and fallible memory.
Getting lost while
Working your way
Through something
The works in WORMHOLE commit to loosely improvised, intuition based image-making, that invite the unexpected, the subjective, the absurd, the disorderly, and the accidental.
EXUBERANCE!!!
POSITIVITY!!!
FREAK OUT!!!
“A wormhole on the side of the road beneath the grass and underground but movement and action prevail! Hues flourish, songs are being sung, and vitality exits. You just gotta dig.”
