The American Institute of Thoughts and Feelings is an artist-run exhibition and arts organizing project located in Tucson, Arizona. The project and its constellational branches seek to examine and reflect upon human sentiment through research, inquiry, and engagement.  AITF aims to provide an accessible platform for contemporary art to residents of Tucson and the Sonoran Desert region.

AITF opened in 2018 as the Underground Bureauof Investigations (UBOI), a gallery space with rotating exhibitions, and the Semi-Permanent Sculpture Garden of the Side Yard (SS GOTSY), a sculpture garden that could be viewed from the adjacent alleyway. AITF ran regular programs in this iteration until 2020.  In the years following, institute programming was offsite and organized at a slow pace.

In 2024, the latest branch of the American Institute of Thoughts and Feelings will open as Precious Cargo, an alternative small press and project space that focuses on the production and distribution of diy publications, left-field artist multiples, and exhibition programming. It is a small publishing house, an experimental gallery, and a site for gathering.
